Trying to loosing up my perfectionism (San Francisco Version)
What I love about living in San Francisco is the architecture. I love drawing houses and buildings, and SF has so many gems, like the trolley cars. There's no shortage of inspiration to practice loosening up.
These came out okay, I think. The North Beach Hotel is where I really wanted to push myself to let go, not drawing every single window, just showing the scene through shapes. The trolley car one... lol, idk.
My issue is I can't look at them too long. The second I do, I start picking. The lines are loose. The structure is wobbly. There's a voice that goes "this looks like a kid did it." And then I have to remind myself that art is subjective and I am not painting for that voice.
Watercolor helps with this in a weird way. You put down a wash and it just goes where it wants. You can fight it or you can let the painting be what it's becoming. I'm still learning to do the second thing.
The goal right now is to be proud of the work I put in, because I need to fight the imposter syndrome... lol.
